Braselton, GA - (September 26th, 2009) -- OSO*Fresh driver, Sage Karam, captured the Petit LeMans Skip Barber National title, at Road Atlanta on Friday. The 14 year-old qualified in 4th place for the feature event and after contact, fell to the 6th position. With six laps to go, Karam carved his way to the front and set himself up for a last lap duel for the exciting and intense victory.
With the impressive victory, Karam slides into third in the overall National standings in his rookie season. “I would like to thank my manager, Michael Fux, for permitting this tremendous opportunity to occur and allowing me to focus on racing. I’ve learned a lot in the Skip Barber National series and I am looking forward to continued success”, the youngest MAZDASPEED Developmental driver stated. “We are all thankful for the support and the direction that Michael has offered me”.

Karam is also the youngest Skip Barber Scholarship Shootout champion and has progressed at a steady rate throughout the season. “I am very proud of Sage’s performance and stand behind making sure he reaches his potential,” remarked Michael Fux. “Sage is a tremendous talent and I am very excited for him and his future,” he added.
The unprecedented 31-time National karting champion credits his driving coach, Mr. Bob Ziegel (Skip Barber), for the technical and mental preparation. “Bob has worked hard with me on finding the competition zone. He keeps the perfect balance for me mentally, on race weekends,” said Sage. “I’ve done everything they’ve instructed me to do and it’s finally paying off for me,” he added. “My parents have always surrounded me with the right people to help me succeed.”

Ziegel’s pride and excitement in his protégé’s victory were evident in his post-race comments. “He’s been driving well all year, and this one paid off for Sage. He drove a masterful race and was where he needed to be when he needed to be there. I am proud of his performance. He’s got the talent and the sky is the limit. He just needs to get the experience.”
“Winning in front of all of the racefans was an amazing experience. I will never forget the cool-down lap and the fans waving at me,” replied the excited teenager. “I’d like to thank my Skip Barber mechanics for keeping my car in top shape and the instructors for the great feedback.”
Sage will compete in less than two weeks at the season-finale at Lime Rock Park. “I want to finish strong at Lime Rock. I can’t believe the season is almost over.”
